NOTE: The Organisers reserve the right to determine in which section an individual must play regardless of the section for which he or she has been registered.
FORMAT & TIME CONTROL:
1. FIDE Open Section
5 Rounds
Three (3) rounds on Saturday, December 22 and two (2) rounds on Sunday, December 23. The Organisers reserve the right to change the schedule and/or increase or reduce the number of rounds depending on the number of entrants with high FIDE ratings, especially over 2200
Time Control
Game in 61 Minutes with 30 second increments per move from move one (1)
2. Intermediate Section
6 - Round Swiss
(3 Rounds Each Day)

Game in 65 Minutes
NOTE: NO DRAW OFFERS ALLOWED IN THE LAST THREE (3) ROUNDS OF THE OPEN AND INTERMEDIATE SECTIONS UNTIL AFTER MOVE FIFTY (50) AND ONLY THROUGH THE ARBITER/TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR. BREACH OF THIS RULE WILL EXPOSE THE OFFENDING PLAYER OR PLAYERS TO DISCIPLINARY MEASURES INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, FORFEITURE OF GAMES, POINTS AND/OR PRIZE MONEY

All entrants must be paid-up members of the Jamaica Chess Federation.

Class Prizes In FIDE Open Section (Medals for top three finishers)
(Candidate Master) - 2199 - 2100 = 1st, 2nd and 3rd
(Expert) - JCF Rating 2099 – 2000 = 1st, 2nd, and 3rd
(Class A) - JCF Rating 1999 – 1800 = 1st, 2nd, and 3rd
(Class B) – JCF Rating 1799 – 1600 = 1st, 2nd, and 3rd
Class Prizes In the Intermediate Section
(Class C) JCF Rating 1599 – 1400 = 1st, 2nd, and 3rd
(Class D) JCF Rating 1399 – 1300 = 1st, 2nd, and 3rd
Class Prizes In the Amateur Section
(Class D) – JCF Rating 1299 – 1200 = 1st, 2nd and 3rd
(Class E) – JCF Rating 1199 – Unrated) 1st, 2nd and 3rd
Please note that players who finish in the top 3 in the respective sections are not eligible for class prizes.
AGE GROUP PRIZES
Best Under 8, 10, 12 and 14 year-old players
OTHER CATEGORY PRIZES
Best rural player, best female player, best junior and best new player
Half (½) Point Bye
NB: Half (½) point bye available only for the first round and will only be allowed after proper registration.
“PROPER REGISTRATION” means paying the relevant fees in addition to completing and submitting the registration form within the time stipulated.
REGISTRATION
Entrants must register with:
MAGNIFICENT CHESS FOUNDATION (Miss M.Jones or Mr. H. Foster) at 10 Swallowfield Road, Kingston 5 (968-0513 or 382-5449)
The registration period begins immediately and ends Wednesday 19th December 2012 at 4 pm.
Registration after the date and time above is Late Registration which attracts a penalty. (See Entry Fees Section Above)
Individuals who register on 22nd December, 2012 will not be able to play in round one.
Please note that no form of registration will take place at the venue on Saturday, December 22, 2012 before the start of the first round at 9 a.m. Those registering late on the first day, to play in Round 2 onwards, will have to wait until after the start of the first round to register.
NB: The normal rating of the players in the Amateur section will not change as a result of the games played in this section. When these players advance to the Intermediate Section or the Open Section (of future events) they will start with the rating at which they entered this Amateur tournament.
