Note that this tournament is qualifier for the 2013 Jamaica Chess Championships. Please note that in order to qualify for the National Chess Championships in 2013 you must get in your games from now
Section and Dates:
A) OPEN: November 17 and 18, 2012
Open to all Chess Players and will be rated by the International/World Chess Federation (“FIDE”), the world governing body for the Sport of Chess.
B) INTERMEDIATE SECTION: November 17 and 18, 2012
For players with a JCF Rating under 1600
Six-Round Swiss
(3 Rounds Each Day)
Time Control - Game in 65 Minutes
C) AMATEUR SECTION
November 17 ONLY
For players with a JCF Rating under 1300.
Six-Round Swiss
ALL Rounds in one (1) Day
Time Control - Game in 15 Minutes
Main prizes (may be subject to INCREASED change):
A) OPEN SECTION
1st Place – United States Five Hundred Dollars (US$500) or the Jamaican equivalent at J$90 to US$1 + gold medal and trophy
2nd place –United States Two Hundred Dollars (US$200) or the Jamaican equivalent at J$90 to US$1 + silver medal
3rd place – United States One Hundred and Fifty (US$150) or the Jamaican equivalent at J$90 to US$1 + bronze medal
B) INTERMEDIATE
1st place –$10,000 + gold medal and trophy
2nd place - $8,000 + silver medal
3rd place - $4,000 + bronze medal
C) AMATEUR SECTION
1st place - Trophy
2nd place - Silver medal
3rd place - Bronze medal
Class Prizes in Open Section
TIME CONTROL: Game in Sixty-One (61) minutes with 30-second increments added to each move starting from the first move.
FORMAT: Six-Round Swiss
NB: If there is at least one entrant with a FIDE rating of 2200 or more, the JCF reserves the right to increase the time control appropriately and reduce the number of rounds, if necessary. If this is to be done, an announcement will be made before the start of the tournament.

Please note that a junior is an individual who did not reach the age of 20 years prior to January 01, 2012
All entrants must be paid-up members of the Jamaica Chess Federation.
Membership fees:
Adult - $2,000 per year
Juniors - $1,000 per year

(Expert) - JCF Rating 2000 – 2199 = 1st, 2nd, and 3rd
(Class A) – JCF Rating 1800 – 1999 = 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
(Class B) - JCF Rating 1600 – 1799 = 1st, 2nd, and 3rd
Class Prizes In the Intermediate and Amateur Sections
(Class C) - JCF Rating 1400 - 1599 = 1st, 2nd and 3rd
(Class D) - JCF Rating 1200 – 1399 = 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
(Class E) – JCF Rating Unrated - 1199 = 1st, 2nd & 3rd
Age group prizes:
Best Under 6, 8, 10, 12 and 14 year-old players
Other Category Prizes:
Best rural player, best female player, best junior and best new player
Half (½) Point Bye
NB: Half (½) point bye available only for first round and will only be allowed after proper registration.
“PROPER REGISTRATION” means paying the relevant fees in addition to completing and submitting the registration form within the time stipulated.

9: 00 am - ROUND ONE STARTS FOR ALL SECTIONS (The Arbiter/Tournament Director will publish the schedule for the remaining rounds after the commencement of round one).

The registration period begins immediately and ends Monday, 12th November 2012 at 4:00 pm.
Registration after the date and time above is Late Registration which attracts a penalty.

Players who register late may not be able to play in round one.
Please note that no form of registration will take place at the venue on Saturday, November 17, 2012 before the start of the first round at 9 a.m. Those registering late on the first day, to play in Round 2, will have to wait until after the start of the first round to register.
NB: The normal rating of the players in the Amateur section will not change as a result of the games played in this section. When these players advance to the Intermediate Section or the Open Section (of future events) they will start with the rating at which they entered this Amateur tournament.
ACCOMMODATION AT NEGRIL ESCAPE RESORT & SPA: J$3,000 per person per night; J$1,500.00 per child for children between three and twelve years old; Free admission for children under three years old. NB: Maximum of four persons per room. ALL accommodation costs must be paid to persons doing registration NO LATER THAN MONDAY 12TH NOVEMBER, 2012. Limited number of rooms. Book early!!
